I have been nominated by Beth at ETB Travel Photography and Janet Brenneman on Facebook to post one favorite travel picture a day for ten days without explanation, then to nominate someone else to participate. That’s 10 days, 10 travel pictures, and 10 nominations. I am honored and give my warm thanks to both of these outstanding photographers for nominating me.
I hope neither will mind if I do a variation. Rather than posting separate days on both platforms (20 posts in all!), I’m combining ten photos in this one post. And instead of nominations, I invite any of my fellow bloggers and Facebook friends to join the challenge if you chose. I would love to see your photos.
As directed, there are no explanations for these images. Having spent months reviewing gigabytes of photos to put some favorites together for the Photography pages on this website, each of the following images appear in one of those collections. Hunt them down if you wish!
My thanks as well to Anand Kumar for including me in the Good Writer Talks series on his Your Need blog. You can read my interview with Anand here.

Where are these places? Answers at the end of next week’s post, Comalapa, town of artists.

Thank you! It’s called a blue-footed booby. Rare except for one place in the world.

Ten on one post is a much better idea than one on each of ten posts. By the way, if you have Netflix, here’s a doc you might like: My Octopus Teacher. Take care.

Thanks! I know many photographer bloggers just post one photo at a time, but for me it’s about the writing as well. I have been dropping in and out of various streaming platforms. I’ll look for that one next time I join Netflix again. It looks interesting.

I don’t think I can identify the location for any of these, but they are all incredible photos!

I’m thinking I’ll post the answers at the end of my next blog post (Saturdays). Some are identifiable if you’ve been there, but the close ups would be more difficult. Thank you!

Hmmm… I’m going to guess the Galapagos for the blue-footed booby, with Greece under that and New Mexico under that. The one with the gray stone wall and orange leaves is stunning and I’ll guess Japan. Beautiful pictures.

Yes, you have the right general areas! The one in Japan has the red maple leaves of autumn. Thank you!

The Galapagos- booby, Morocco -doors, Kenya – leopard, Guatemala (or Nicaragua) -woman, and Japan – maple are a few of my guesses. Thanks for playing along!

Beth: Galapagos yes, Morocco no, not Kenya but another African safari-close enough, Guatemala and Japan yes! 🙂

They’re all spectacular. I especially liked the one at Taos Pueblo, NM and the woman carrying the beautiful textiles.

What a great collection of photos. I like the mix you’ve chosen between the wildlife, nature, and cities. Photo #9 looks like somewhere in Japan (I love those Japanese maples).

I’m guessing one may be Santorini maybe, I’ve never been but those white buildings and blue roofs find their way online a lot haha. Gorgeous photos anyway, looking forward to the big reveal!

I wish I’d thought to approach this challenge ‘all in one post’ like this! I know a couple of your places – Galapagos Islands (maybe Espanola, as that’s where we saw the most Blue-footed Boobies?) and Taos Pueblo, which I recently blogged about myself. The stone lantern is in Japan somewhere – maybe Nikko or Kyoto? The one with the woman carrying all the textiles has to be Guatemala but no idea where! And I’m thinking Greek Island for another, but the leopard and dolphins could be any number of places 😉

You were spot on with all your guesses! I will look for your Taos Pueblo post. The details are at the end of my next post https://ruthrosenfeld.com/2021/02/27/comalapa-guatemala-town-of-artists/. I’m glad bloggers are accepting of different approaches (to awards and whatever), creative souls that they are. I didn’t want to spend 10 posts doing that. 🙂

I’ll check that Guatemala post, both to see all the answers and because it’s a country I loved on our too-brief visit 🙂
